Opening day!

Ok, this is the first post of many!! I am watching the opening night of college football after waiting and watching all the classic games on ESPN classic the past couple of days. I even busted out the '93 win vs. Florida St. and the '92 Snow Bowl against Penn St. (which I attended and nearly froze) to get myself even more stressed out for the weekend.

Ok, is it me or has Notre Dame been the subject of lots of controversy because the QB situation. Seriously speaking, they have 4 and 5 star guys that know how to play the game and play it good! There wasn't a single QB in the country last year that would have played ahead of Quinn so I definitely believe that we are going to be ok at QB. Charlie Weiss could have made Gary Godsey a damn fine signal caller!

And it has offically started; the girlfriend is over and she has already let out the first sigh of the football season followed by the all important, "I don't want to watch this, you don't even care about these teams." And with that, I will keep the scores on the computer and try to keep my mouth shut! Peeeeeeeaaaaaace!!!!

GARY GODSEY....WOW. That is a risky call there my friend. Not to mention those game tapes you watched were mine....

I think the whole qb question is the absolute wrong question. The question should be what type of offense ND is going to run. RUN being the key word. We have a lot of horses in the back field, and I cant wait to watch the derby. So who is going to hand the ball off? Well what kind of offense do these signal callers run? Thats an important question...

If it is Jones, we have a kid that threw for 21 TDs and ran for another 17 his JR year in high school. This is the kind of guy you go three wide with and a bashing back. Then you sneak that "Allen" in there and burn them. More of a Vince Young attitude.

Then there is Sharply. Drop back passer. Not the greatest arm strength. Knows the system the best though. We would use every running back we have with this kid, just setting up that play action, catching them sleeping on D. Might not be the most exciting to watch, but scary efficent.

Then there is Glossy Clossy. This is the QB of the future. Weis's system is based upon this type of qb. Pin point passing, fantastic timing, uncanny feel for the pocket. Enough said!

Now I sound like all those papers right?...NO! With all that being said, and all the past history of Weis at Notre Dame, you would call ND a passing team, right? I dont think so. Not this year. We have a stable of runners. We need to be talking more about them. I dont care who is handing the ball off. After everything I said about our qbs, none of them have played in the big house. None of them have had a game winning drive. We need to be talking about what running back is going to be our work horse, or which one is going to be the big hitter (lol thats easy really). A young qb needs a good running game. Well, we know who the jockeys might be, I want to know more about the damn horses.
